DAMOP Symposium and Workshops

Information for Student Tutorial sessions

In conjunction with the DAMOP06 Meeting, the day before the DAMOP Meeting itself begins, there will be a special Student Symposium, with the purpose to expose timely the graduate students to a several modern topics in AMO physics. The Symposium will be held on Tuesday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will consist of three tutorial-type lectures at Nielsen Physics building of UT campus, followed by the tour to Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and Spallation Neutron Source/ Center for Nanophase Material Sciences (SNS/CNMS). While aimed primarily at graduate students, the Symposium is open to all who are interested.

All Symposium participants must register for the Symposium by March 31, 2006. The Symposium fee of $50 will also cover the costs of the tour (bus transportation and lunch).

Conference attendees can also sign for tours of ORNL/SNS/CNMS even if they do not attend the student tutorials. The fee for those who wish to attend just the tour only is $18 for transportation and lunch at ORNL.

The deadline for submitting the visitor pass form and fee is March 31, 2006.

Educators' Day is Tuesday, May 16, 2006

DAMOP, The University of Tennessee, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory invite high school physics and physical science teachers to a free, day-long Educators' Day Workshop, which will be presented on Tuesday, May 16. Advance registration is required because space is limited to approximately 40 participants.
